Terms of Service

Last updated · 2026-07-15

These terms are the agreement between you and Vekteur Inc. ("PalVivo", "we", "us"), the company behind PalVivo. They explain what you can expect from us and what we ask of you. We've kept them as plain as we can.

By creating an account or using PalVivo, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.

1. Agreeing to these terms

When you tick the box at sign-up, or use PalVivo in any way, you're accepting these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you're using PalVivo on behalf of someone else, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for them.

2. Who can use PalVivo

You need to be at least 16 years old to use PalVivo, and able to enter into a binding agreement. If the law where you live sets a higher age for using a service like this, that higher age applies to you.

You agree that the information you give us when you sign up is true, and that you'll keep it up to date.

3. What PalVivo is

PalVivo is a free language-exchange service. We pair you with another member who speaks the language you're learning and is learning the language you speak, and we help you meet for short video sessions (up to two a week) where you practise, half in each language.

PalVivo is an exchange between two learners. It is not a school, a course or a lesson, and we don't provide teachers, tutors or a curriculum. Your partners are other members, not our employees.

4. Your account

PalVivo has no password. You sign in with a single-use link we email you, which means your account is exactly as protected as the inbox that receives it: anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. Keep that inbox secure, and tell us as soon as you can if you think someone else has got into your account.

One person, one account. Please don't create an account for anyone else or pretend to be someone you're not.

5. How the exchange works

You tell us the language you speak, the one you're learning, when you're free and a little about your interests. We use that to pair you with someone who's your mirror image, and we book a weekly session at a time taken from the availability you gave us. Your partner sees your first name, your country, your photo and your bio.

A pairing lasts as long as you both want it to. After a session you each say, privately, whether you'd like to keep going, and one "no" ends it for both. It also ends if neither of you answers within 48 hours, if either of you reports the other, and if either of you pauses their account, closes it, or has it suspended. Neither of you is ever told who ended it.

We do our best to find you a good match, but we can't promise a match at any particular moment, in any particular language, or that a partner will show up, be a good fit, or keep going with you. Matching depends on who else has joined and when they're free.

6. How to treat your partner

PalVivo only works if it's a warm, respectful place. When you're on a call with a partner, you agree to:

  • Be respectful and patient: everyone here is learning, and mistakes are the point.
  • Not harass, threaten, demean or discriminate against anyone.
  • Not send sexual, hateful, violent or otherwise harmful content.
  • Not record, screenshot or share a session, or a partner's image or voice, without their clear permission.
  • Not use PalVivo to advertise, sell, recruit, scam, or push people to other services.

7. Keeping PalVivo safe

You also agree not to break the law while using PalVivo, not to try to break, overload or get around the security of the service, not to collect other members' personal information, and not to use bots or automated means to access PalVivo.

If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can end the session, say privately that you'd rather not keep going, and report them. A report ends the pairing at once and stops that person being matched with you again. We take reports seriously.

8. It's free, and the service can change

PalVivo is free to use. There's no trial that ends and no card required to sign up. If we ever decide to charge for something, we'll tell you clearly first and you'll never be charged without agreeing to it.

PalVivo is young and still growing, so we may add, change or remove features over time (including which languages are available) to make it better.

9. Content and intellectual property

The PalVivo name, logo, design and the service itself belong to Vekteur Inc.. Please don't copy, resell or misuse them.

Anything you say or write stays yours. You give us permission only to show your profile and prompts to partners and to run the service, nothing more.

10. The video call and other services

The video runs directly between you and your partner. It doesn't pass through us, and we don't record or store it. To make the connection work, PalVivo relies on standard web technology and, in some cases, third-party providers. Their own terms may also apply to that part.

The account you use to sign up and get matched lives in the PalVivo app, on its own web address.

11. No warranties

PalVivo is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep it running well, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that it will meet every expectation. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the law that can't be signed away.

12. Our liability

PalVivo puts people in touch; the conversations are between you and your partner. To the fullest extent the law allows, we're not responsible for what other members say or do, and we're not liable for indirect or unexpected losses arising from your use of the service. This doesn't limit any liability that can't be limited by law.

13. Suspending or closing an account

You can close your account yourself at any time, from your profile in the app. It takes effect immediately: there is no waiting period and no way to sign back in afterwards. Your name, photo, bio, country, languages and availability are erased or made anonymous in the same moment. Past sessions and what your partners wrote about them stay, attached to a record that no longer names you, because deleting your half of a shared conversation would delete theirs too.

If you only need a break, you can pause your account instead. Pausing keeps everything and is undone in one click, but it does take you out of matching and it ends any pairing you have at that moment.

A booked session is an appointment with a real person who arranged their week around it. If you repeatedly fail to turn up, we pause your account, and after several times we close it. We tell you by email when either happens.

We may also limit, suspend or close your account if you break these terms or make PalVivo unsafe or unpleasant for others. When someone's safety is at risk we act straight away, without notice. If your account has been closed and you believe it shouldn't have been, write to us at info@palvivo.com: our contact form works even when you can't sign in.

14. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of Québec, Canada, without affecting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. If a part of these terms turns out not to be enforceable, the rest still stands.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as PalVivo changes. If we make an important change, we'll let you know (for example by email or in the app) before it takes effect. Carrying on using PalVivo after that means you accept the updated terms.
