Practice speaking Spanish or French with a native speaker — for free.

We match you with a language partner: a native speaker of the language you're learning, who's learning yours. Half the video call is in their language, half in yours — so you both get real speaking practice. Up to two sessions a week.

Who it's for

Made for people who actually want to be fluent.

You've done the lessons

You know the grammar. You've filled the streaks. And you still freeze the moment you have to say something out loud.

You want a real person

Not another notification. Someone who's actually on the call, at a set time, waiting to talk with you.

You're serious about it

You want to practise regularly, week after week — real conversations, not another streak.

The recipe

What it actually takes to become fluent.

Fluency isn't a secret. It comes down to a few simple ingredients — the trouble is that most apps quietly leave out the main one. Here's the whole recipe.

  1. Regularity

    2× a week

A little, often, beats a lot once. A standing appointment you actually keep is what turns practice into progress.

  2. Speaking out loud

    The main ingredient

You only learn to speak by speaking. Reading, tapping and streaks don't move your mouth — real conversation does.

  3. Someone who talks back

    A native speaker

Hearing how a real person actually says it — and being understood — is worth more than any perfect textbook sentence.

  4. A reason to keep going

    No stress

Talk about things you both care about, in a low-pressure exchange where your partner needs the practice as much as you do.

Most apps give you everything except the one that matters: speaking.

How it works

How weekly speaking practice with a native speaker works.

01

We find your counterpart

You speak English and you're learning Spanish. Somewhere there's someone who speaks Spanish and is learning English, free on Tuesday evening. That's the whole trick.

02

Half in each language

Pick a 30- or 60-minute session. The call switches language at the halfway mark — nobody has to say “shall we swap now?”, the screen just changes colour and you swap.

03

Same person, same time, next week

After the call you each decide, privately, whether to keep going. If you both say yes, next week is already booked. Regularity is what actually makes you fluent.

Why it works

Why speaking out loud beats swiping through an app.

Most language apps quietly let you off the hook — you tap, you keep a streak, you never actually open your mouth. Real fluency comes from talking, out loud, to a real person who talks back.

A person, not a notification

Someone is on the call at a set time, expecting you. That's the accountability an app on your phone can never give you.

Out loud, from the first minute

You speak with a native speaker instead of typing messages back and forth. Half the call is in a language you already know, so you're never stranded.

Both of you have skin in the game

It's an exchange — your partner needs the practice as much as you do. Nobody's just killing time or ghosting after one message.

Never stuck for words

Questions ready whenever the conversation stalls.

You don't have to arrive with a plan. PalVivo suggests conversation starters and follow-ups built around what you and your partner both care about, so a quiet moment never turns into an awkward one.

Break the ice

A fresh prompt drawn from the interests you and your partner share, so you're talking within the first few seconds instead of staring at the screen.

Keep it going

Ran dry mid-conversation? Tap for a follow-up question that picks the thread back up and keeps you both speaking.

A little help

Hints and simpler ways to phrase things when you get stuck — so you push through in the language instead of switching back.

Where it fits

The missing half of your language course.

Classes, textbooks and apps are great at the rules — vocabulary, grammar, how a sentence is built. But you only learn to speak by speaking. PalVivo is where you put all of it to use: real conversation with a native speaker, out loud, for free. It slots right alongside whatever you're already doing.

Your course or app

The foundation — words, grammar, the rules of the language.

PalVivo

The practice — speaking it out loud with a native, twice a week, free.

Together: the confidence to actually say it.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Can I really practice speaking with a native speaker for free?

Yes. You get paired with native speakers of the language you're learning, and you practise out loud together — up to two video sessions a week. There's no card at signup and no paid tier hiding the good part.

How is this different from the usual language apps?

Most apps are things you do alone on a screen — you tap, you read, you keep a streak, but you rarely speak. PalVivo is up to two standing appointments a week with real people who are expecting you, so you actually talk out loud.

Which languages can I practice right now?

English, Français and Español at launch. You tell us the language you speak and the one you're learning, and we pair you with your mirror image. More languages open up as more people join.

Is this language exchange or lessons?

It's a language exchange between two learners — not a class. There's no teacher and no lesson plan. Half the call is in each language, so you both get real practice and you both help each other.

Do I need to be at a certain level?

No. As long as you can read a little of the language you're learning, you can start. The call is half in a language you already speak, so you're never fully out of your depth.

How long is a session?

You choose — 30 or 60 minutes, split evenly between the two languages. You can do up to two sessions a week, so it's short enough to fit a normal week and often enough to actually make progress.

What if I don't click with my partner?

After each call you rate them privately. If either of you would rather not continue, that's the end of it — no awkward conversation — and we look for someone new for next week.

What happens if I can't make it one week?

You let your partner know and pick another slot together. The point is a steady rhythm, not a rule you get punished for breaking.

Is it genuinely free?

Yes. No trial, no card at signup, no paid tier hiding behind the good features. The whole thing is up to two video sessions a week with native speakers.

Tell us your languages and when you're free. We'll do the rest.

Takes about two minutes. No payment, no trial, no upsell later.
